It’s that time of the year again for “Street Dance of China” (这就是街舞). After a highly successful season last year, YOUKU was looking to invite captains from previous seasons, schedule permitting. YOUKU had already teased after the finale that they were going to do an international season next season. They had already teased some of the foreign dancers joining season 4 back in April.
On June 9, Wang Yibo (王一博) was the first captain to announce his return to “Street Dance of China 4”. Wang Yibo wrote, “Use passion to dance with the world and show off street dance of China’s power!”
YOUKU had posted a cryptic message using emojis on June 8. Smart netizens were able to decipher that YOUKU was going to release the names of the captains starting from Wednesday (June 9) to Saturday, presumably at 3:00 pm (CST) each day.
Before the show has even aired, there were already rumors circulating two rumored captains, Lay Zhang, and William Chan, were not getting along. Rumors started that they fought about their billing and standing position, which led to a delay in filming. On May 14, the “Street Dance of China” program team issued a statement denying all the rumors.
The show is set to air in August.
