On August 7, 2025, Tian Xiwei (田曦薇) and Hu Yitian (胡一天) began filming for their new series, “Genius Girlfriend” (天才女友), which is adapted from a novel.

Tian Xiwei plays “Lin Zhixia”, a brilliant girl with a direct personality, doesn’t know how to socialize, and didn’t have much friends in her childhood. After making it the top provincial middle school, “Lin Zhixia” meets the sunshine ace student, “Jiang Yubai”, played by Hu Yitian, because of a problem solving competition and become desk mates.

The social butterfly that is “Jiang Yubai” brings “Lin Zhixia” to meet other friends. In return, “Lin Zhixia” becomes “Jiang Yubai’s” tutor to express her gratitude. From being competitors to helping each other, the two end up becoming good friends. As the two spend more time together, “Jiang Yubai” develops feelings for “Lin Zhixia”, but keeps his feelings for her in his heart.

When “Lin Zhixia” gets recommended to attend Fudan University, “Jiang Yubai” prepares to confess his feelings for her during their graduation trip. However, because his mother gets entangled in a fraud case, he regrettably leaves.

This marks Hu Yitian’s first series he’s filmed in over 700 days since his last series wrapped up in August 2023.
