Hong Kong Actor, Benz Hui, Passes Away at 76

Veteran Hong Kong actor, Benz Hui Shiu Hung (許紹雄), affectionately known as “Brother Foon Hei” (歡喜哥), passed away in the morning at 2:30 AM, October 28, 2025, at the age of 76, after battling cancer and suffering multiple organ failure, revealed by his family through good friend and host, Luisa Maria Leitão. It was said he peacefully passed with friends and family by his side. Benz Hui is survived by his wife and daughter.

In the weeks leading up to his passing, Benz Hui’s health declined rapidly. Since the news of him being admitted to the hospital was circulating yesterday, many of Benz Hui’s close friends in the entertainment industry rushed to the hospital to visit him, while his wife and daughter stayed by his side around the clock. It was said he was not conscious when celebrities like Dayo Wong, Ron Ng, Raymond Lam, Bosco Wong, Charmaine Sheh, Michael Miu and his wife, Jamie Chik, and more visited him.

When Charmaine Sheh was interviewed at a work function in Macau yesterday, she was already in tears when asked about Benz Hui’s condition and said she would immediately visit him in the hospital after work ended. The two officially became godfather and goddaughter after filming the series, “The Heir to the Throne (家族榮耀之繼承者)”, even though the two were already close. Charmaine Sheh was seen immediately rushing to the hospital after her work event and even canceled a Beijing work trip to make it in time to see Benz Hui one last time.

Benz Hui had invested in real estate in Singapore, where he eventually settled with his wife and daughter, Charmaine Hui Wai Ching, after semi-retiring from acting. His daughter married last year and Benz Hui proudly took on the new role of father-in-law. Together with his family, he helped open several cafés and bakeries in Singapore.
