One of China’s celebrity power couples, Tong Liya (佟丽娅) and Cheng Sicheng (陈思诚), have called it quits. On May 20, which is known as “520” or “I Love You” Day in China, where many couples decide to announce their love, engagements, or marriages, Chen Sicheng and Tong Liya, chose to announce their divorce.

They both posted their announcements at 08:08 am, which is Tong Liya’s birthday. Tong Liya wrote, “Life is worth living and the future is promising. Thank you @陈思诚. Chen Sicheng included a picture of Tong Liya and their son, “Duo Duo”, and wrote, “From 2011-2020, the story has come to an end…….You guys will always be the ones I love the most. Changing identities to protect you @佟丽娅.”

Tong Liya and Chen Sicheng met in 2010 while filming the series, “Beijing Love Story” (北京爱情故事). They announced their relationship on “Happy Camp” in 2012. They couple married in January 2014 in Tahiti and gave birth to their son, nicknamed, “Duo Duo”, on January 2016.

Divorce rumors started in 2017 soon after Chen Sicheng was rumored to have spent the night with another woman. Tong Liya was seen without her wedding ring in March 2017 and it was rumored they were in the midst of a divorce. However, Chen Sicheng responded that the rumors were “created out of nothing”. In the following years, the couple continued to have normal interactions with each other like a happy family even up to 2020. They were last spotted together in February 2021 for the 2020 Weibo Night event. However, based on Chen Sicheng’s post, it seems the marriage ended in 2020.
