If you have been watching Dicky Cheung’s (張衞健) return to TVB in “The Learning Curve of a Warlord” (大帥哥), then you should have noticed the baby-faced Zoie Tam (譚凱琪), who plays one of his wives, “Teen Giu.” In the beginning of the series, she seems sweet and charming, but it turns out she is evil and is a Japanese spy. Once her identity is revealed, it gets Dicky’s character into a lot of trouble. Her performance in the series has earned Zoie Tam much praise from the audience. It has definitely brought her career to new heights.
Despite her youthful looks, Zoie Tam is actually 37 years old this year and has already been in showbiz for 18 years. She was once an apprentice under Japanese musician, Tetsuya Komuro and even came out with an album. Unfortunately, the record company went bankrupt when she was just 18. With no other prospects, she went to Taiwan to develop her career, but it wasn’t a success. Because of this, she joined Hong Kong Cable Television and was there until she signed with TVB in 2013. It wasn’t immediate success for her after joining TVB. She started getting more prominent roles in recent years, like the career-minded single mom, Annie, in last year’s, “My Unfair Lady” (不懂撒嬌的女人) and now “Teen Giu” in “The Learning Curve of a Warlord.”
Zoie Tam once said she didn’t mind that her career path took longer than others. She also says that she wouldn’t be who she is today if it weren’t for her past. Now, she is prepared more than ever to take no new challenges.
