Nancy Wu Announces Departure from TVB

Nancy Wu (胡定欣) has been rumored to be leaving TVB since 2018. She hadn’t filmed any new series for almost 2 years. Her last series that aired was “Justice Bao: The First Year” (包青天再起風雲) in July 2019. She was recently announced as a new character joining “Big White Duel 2” (白色強人2), which led people to think she would be staying with TVB. Prior to this, there were rumors she would be signing with one of Louis Koo’s company.

However, Nancy Wu announced her departure from TVB on Instagram after much speculation. On November 13, she wrote a post, saying, “Thankful for encountering good people and good things all along and for accompanying me in welcoming this new chapter of mine. Starting today, I am officially working with Shaw Brothers Pictures.” Nancy Wu also took the time to thank those at TVB who have previously helped her throughout the 18 years at the company.

Nancy Wu spoke with Oriental Daily News and revealed she has already cooperated with TVB on “Big White Duel 2” through a new format. She revealed, “Yes! It’s a new start. I am truly grateful for TVB’s support and cultivation all these years. I am looking forward to a smooth cooperation with Shaw Brothers. ‘Big White Duel 2’ is the beginning of a new format of collaboration. I will also be participating in Shaw Brothers productions in the future.”

Nancy Wu joins previous TVB stars like Vincent Wong (王浩信), Benjamin Yuen (袁偉豪), Selena Lee (李施嬅), Eliza Sam (岑麗香), and more who have made the transition to Shaw Brothers in recent years. While it might seem like a departure, TVB is a subsidiary of Shaw Brothers, which is why there are still a lot of Shaw Brothers artists filming in grand TVB productions.
