Park Hyung-sik in Talks to Star in Korean Adaptation of Chinese Novel The Golden Hairpin

Last December, there were reports Korea was adapting Chinese novel, “The Golden Hairpin” (簪中录), into a series. The novel is written by author, Cece Qinghan, who confirmed the news of the Korean adaptation on December 17 last year. A Chinese series adaptation of the novel that wrapped up filming in 2020 with leads, Yang Zi and Kris Wu, has yet to air.

On March 19, Korean media reported the series will be produced by tvN with actor, Park Hyung-sik, starring as the male lead. Park Hyung-sik’s management company confirmed they received an invitation to star in “The Golden Hairpin”. They said Park Hyung-sik is using a “very positive attitude” to discuss starring in “The Golden Hairpin”.

Park Hyung-sik was released from his conscription service in January of this year. This would be his first project back from entering the army if he ends up starring in the series.
