Thai member, Pam (Xu Jialin 徐嘉琳), of Chinese girl group, sis, was trending on July 12 when the official sis Weibo account announced that Pam would be taking a hiatus from solo and group activities due to her health. They also wrote, “At the moment, the artist’s condition is stable. After discussing with the team, she will be returning to her hometown in Thailand to recuperate. Thankful for everyone’s care and support all along. What Pam needs right now is stable treatment and ample rest. Hope to give her ample time to condition her body until she recovers.”
Prior to the statement, there were rumors circulating Pam had attempted to take her own life on her 24th birthday, July 11, but was saved by a staff member who took her to the hospital. However, Pam had once posted that she had, “wanted to escape from this world”.
Back in May, Pam once shared with fans that she hadn’t worked in 4 months and blamed herself for it. She found it hard to keep singing. In one of her tweets from early July, Pam revealed she had to see a doctor everyday and eat medicine for a condition that she was battling. The doctor later diagnosed her with insomnia, anxiety, and depression. Pam said she didn’t dare to face her diagnosis or admit it, but ultimately wanted to share it with everyone because she was felt uncomfortable and lonely. Family and close friends have been supporting Pam in the past month.
On her birthday, Pam also updated fans that her mental state was much better, but her conscious state was still a bit fuzzy and her walking a bit unnatural. Wajijiwa labelmates, Sunnee and NeNe, visited Pam the following day and told her to take care.
On July 13, Pam headed back to Thailand and was sent off by her group members, Hong Yinuo and Vegee, at the airport.
Pam also updated fans, saying, “This won’t be the last time I see the sunset in China. I will come back again. Right now I will be returning to my hometown to rest and become even stronger, become even better. Sorry for disappointing some people. I will love myself even more. Thank you, China, for teaching me a lot of things. It’s really hard to let go for me. I will miss you guys. Wait for me.”
