Dark Horse Miss Hong Kong 2021 Second Runner Up, Kristy Shaw, Denies Having Connections That Helped Her Win

This year’s Miss Hong Kong 2021 (2021香港小姐決賽) pageant was unpredictable with so many hot favorites predicted to win. The biggest surprise and most talked about was second runner up, Kristy Shaw (邵初), who didn’t have as much press coverage as other contestants and didn’t particularly stand out during the competition.

Kristy Shaw, who is of Chinese and Vietnamese descent, also won the Miss Friendship award. It has been said to be a curse for those who get the “Miss Friendship” award as they most likely won’t be ranked in the top 3. Kristy Shaw has already broke that “tradition”.

Because of her “upset win”, many netizens have called Kristy Shaw a dark horse. When interviewed by hk01.com, Kristy Shaw said all 12 contestants were very well balanced. She said she was very happy and surprised when she got into the top 5.

After the pageant was over, Eric Tsang was seen personally helping her take pictures. As a result, there were buzz that Kristy Shaw was getting special treatment from Eric Tsang (曾志偉) and perhaps helped her win. Kristy Shaw emphasized she doesn’t have any connections. She explained, “Actually, it wasn’t a relative or a parent. This scene should be a sponsor helping us take pictures. At the time, there was a lady whose hair was disheveled, I helped her fix it. So this might have led everyone to think I was her daughter or relative. I don’t have any connections.”
