Kevin Cheng Wants His Children to Learn Chinese, Won’t Force Them to Go to International Schools

Kevin Cheng (鄭嘉穎) and Kenneth Ma (馬國明) attended a promotional event on October 27 for their currently airing TVB series, “Kids’ Lives Matter” (星空下的仁醫). which focuses on a children’s hospital. Both male leads play doctors in the series.

As a father of two boys, Kevin Cheng revealed he doesn’t have a high status in his home. He says his two sons are “emperors”. Kevin Cheng explains he wants to give his two sons a a happy childhood and says he is definitely not a “Tiger Dad”.

Kevin Cheng elaborated further, “I won’t tell them they must finish their homework first. I would choose easier schools. International schools are back ups. I want them to learn Chinese. I would let them [go] to local schools first. Of course, if they start saying it’s hard, then we’ll change [schools]. I won’t say they have to do this and that, as long as they’re happy and have a happy childhood.”

As for material goods, Kevin Cheng said as long as the requests aren’t too excessive, he’ll try to fulfill them. For example, if they ask for the moon, Kevin Cheng said he can’t give them that, which would be the bottom line.
