Kara Hui and Vincent Wong Play Mother and Son in New TVB Detective Investigation Series

The cast attended the blessing ceremony for new TVB series, “Criminal Investigation Diary” (lit – 刑偵日記). The cast reunites Kara Hui (惠英紅) with “The Defected” (鐵探) co-stars, Philip Keung (姜皓文), and Benjamin Yuen (袁偉豪). However, a TVB executive denied this was a sequel to “The Defected”. This time she will be playing mother and son with Vincent Wong (王浩信). Other cast members include Mandy Wong (黃智雯), Shiga Lin (連詩雅), Venus Wong (王敏奕), and others.

Vincent Wong and Kara Hui both play characters with Dissociative Identity Disorder. Kara Hui expressed this was an exhausting and difficult role for her to film. She even questioned the producer whether she offended him to give her such a tortuous role. Kara Hui revealed, “There is a scene where I took all the medicine my psychologist prescribed to me and then I have to throw it all up. So I purged my throat. I purposely drank 4 bottles of water so I could purge my throat to vomit. We took two takes. It was real vomit. I vomited all over my hand. After we filmed it, I immediately had to say that I had imaginations. Filming this scene was more tiring than filming one fight scene.”

Kara Hui’s character deals has 5-6 identities, while Vincent Wong has 3 identities. Vincent Wong explained, “Finally waited to have the chance to work with Hung-jeh. This group is very happy. My character is a handwriting expert. One of my characters is funny and will have a romance line with Venus Wong.”
