Due to the popularity of MangoTV’s survival show for female celebrities 30 and up, “Sisters Who Make Waves” (乘风破浪的姐姐), last year, the show renewed it for a second season. The first episode aired on January 22. In the latest episode, the women have their first public performances. Cecilia Cheung’s (張柏芝) group performs WayV’s “Regular”. Their team failed in challenging Na Ying’s (那英) team, but Cecilia Cheung scored the second highest points out of all the challengers. So she was one of the earlier members to choose her team for the second public performance.
Out of the three teams led by Na Ying, Jike Junyi, and Yang Yuying (杨钰莹), Cecilia Cheung deliberated for a bit and decided with laughter, “I want to go to Na Ying-jie’s team.” After Na Ying heard her choice, she had a look of anguish and shock on her face, while placing her hands on her head. Cecilia Cheung told her, “You can reject!” So Na Ying took her advice and kindly rejected her by saying, “Think about it first.”
It would be awkward for the two as Cecilia Cheung’s ex-husband, Nicholas Tse, is dating Na Ying’s good friend, Faye Wong. Despite this little caveat, Cecilia Cheung had previously trended for her dancing skills and was criticized by netizens on previous episodes. Cecilia Cheung was also trending on Weibo with “Cecilia Cheung half-assing” in reference to her performance in “Regular”.
