Chiang Hung-chieh Files for Divorce from Table Tennis Champion, Ai Fukuhara

After almost 2 months since the reports of table tennis champion, Ai Fukuhara (福原愛), going on a date with a male companion in Japan, her husband, Chang Hung-chieh (江宏傑) has officially filed for divorce. According to the Taiwanese media reports, Chiang Hung-chieh already filed for divorce from Ai Fukuhara a few days ago. The couple has been married for 4 years and have a daughter and a son.

Ai Fukuhara explained her male companion was just a friend that has been supportive of her for years and that they returned to their own hotel rooms. While Ai Fukuhara was back in Japan, Chiang Hung-chieh stayed back in Taiwan with their kids and nursed her ailing mother. Despite her explanation, netizens had already cast doubts against Ai Fukuhara and the rumors have impacted her reputation. Since the divorce rumors started, there were reports Ai Fukuhara was suffering from longtime emotional abuse afflicted by Chiang Hung-chieh.

Ai Fukuhara released a statement through her Japanese agency after the news of Chiang Hung-chieh filing for divorce. She said, “Thank you Mr Chiang for providing a venue for discussion. I will choose the method that’s best for the children. Kindly ask everyone to continue to warmly protect us.”
