Yang Mi (杨幂) and Hawick Lau(劉愷威) announced their divorce in 2018 after 5 years of marriage. Since then, Yang Mi has been rumored with Chinese actor, Wei Daxun(魏大勋), on several occasions, for the last two years. Neither party ever addressed the rumors directly until January 2021, when Yang Mi and Wei Daxun were rumored to have gotten married. Yang Mi’s studio issued a statement denying all rumors.
In a recent interview with Harper’s BAZAAR magazine, Yang Mi was asked if she was still looking forward to love in life. Yang Mi responded, “Looking forward to it, looking forward to it everyday. However, I haven’t really invested that much effort into it. So am I just looking forward to it in vain? Furthermore, I always feel if it’s too intentional and not natural, the taste of love changes. Moreover, love isn’t as important as you imagined. It’s just one of the many various experiences in your life.”
When talking about her character, “Haishi”, in “Novoland: Pearl Eclipse”, Yang Mi said it is a role she has always wanted to try. She explained, “There is no series like her, falling in love so sufferably. That is whether it was previous roles or in real life, I was relatively passive. I wouldn’t be very proactive in pursuing someone, especially in my life, it’s practically impossible for it to happen. So as an actor, this character gave me freshness, to try to take the initiative to pursue someone and experience how difficult it is to love.”
