Japanese celebrity, Yamapi (山下智久), opened his Instagram account today and broke the internet. Within 7 hours, he already reached over one million followers. The 34 year old, who is under Johnny’s Entertainment, is said to be the first artist under the talent agency to have his own personal Instagram account ever since the company loosened its strict rules on its artists. Aside from Instagram, Yamapi was also the first Johnny’s Entertainment artist to open a Weibo account, where he currently has over 1.7 million followers.

According to the Japanese media, he is the fastest Japanese celebrity to reach one million followers on Instagram, even breaking Korean idol, Daniel Kang’s record of 11 hours. He is the world’s second fastest celebrity to reach one million followers, only losing out to the current titleholders, Prince Harry and Meghan Markle, Duchess of Sussex.
