Last year’s Chinese remake of “Meteor Garden” (流星花园) was a mega success throughout Asia. It catapulted the new F4 consisting of Dylan Wang, Darren Chen, Connor Leong, and Caesar Wu, and Shen Yue into global stars. The main cast is particularly popular in Thailand. The new generation F4 has been sponsored by a Thai company before and even had fan meetings there. It only made sense that Thailand would be the next country to remake “Boys Over Flowers”, given the popularity of the previous versions in the country.
Thai TV station, GMMTV, announced “Boys Over Flowers” is one of the 12 series they are filming at their 2020 new dramas presentation a few days ago. It’s reported the topic shot up to the trending list in Thailand. The actors portraying F4 and “Shancai” from each version all became famous after starring in the series. The main cast essentially make or break the series. So everyone is heavily invested in the casting for the pivotal roles.
Thai netizens already came up with their own wishlist of actors to portray F4 and “Shancai”. Tor Thanapob who is hot off the popularity of his series, “Hua Jai Sila”, was selected by most netizens to play “Dao Mingsi”. Tor gained a big following in China with “Hua Jai Sila”. He recently had a fan meeting in China and even broke down in tears.
Pattie is a popular choice by netizens to play “Shancai”.
Saint is a popular choice to play “Hua Ze Lei”. Many fans hope Saint can at least be one of the F4 characters. He is also popular in China coming off the popularity of the series “Bai Mai Tee Plid Plew”, where he plays the pre-transitioned version of Baifern’s character.
Someone on Twitter jokingly said this is the adult version of F4…They’re not that old, right?
