After the “OnSum Cheating” scandal was exposed, Jacqueline Wong’s (黃心穎) image and career severely suffered. Her series were taken off schedule, with the exception of “Forensic Heroes IV” (法證先鋒IV), which was reshot. TVB shocked everyone last month when they announced her series, “Finding Her Voice” (牛下女高音) was going to air during the TVB anniversary series primetime slot, after it was taken off the schedule and wasn’t going to be reshot.
TVB is once again testing the waters as it was discovered Jacqueline Wong’s series, “The Offliners” (堅離地愛堅離地), will be airing on November 18 through Malaysia’s “Astro AOD” channel. A producer from “The Offliners” confirmed the news today when speaking to hk01.com, saying “The plans for Malaysia and Hong Kong are different. After “Finding Her Voice” finishes airing in Hong Kong, TVB will air mainland series, “Legend of the Phoenix” (鳳弈) because the company doesn’t have its Malaysian broadcast license, so Malaysia will air “The Offliners” after “Finding Her Voice”.
Malaysian news outlets also reported Jacqueline Wong’s other series, “The Maid Alliance” (丫鬟大聯盟), will also be airing on December 16.
After the news was announced, many Malaysian netizens expressed their disapproval of both series airing. Many of them also said they didn’t want to watch the series either. They left comments such as, “This Hong Kong is very smart. Hong Kong won’t air it, but it’s airing in Malaysia. No one will watch it either. Why don’t you guys wait another 10 years to air it?”, “Many Malaysians don’t want to watch it either.”, “I like Sammi Cheng too much. There’s no other choice, not watching it.”
