Ever since Jacqueline Wong (黃心穎) and Andy Hui’s (許志安) cheating scandal was exposed in April, Jacqueline Wong has disappeared from the public eye and dodging the media. Her sister, Scarlett Wong (黃心美), who is in the business, has been the one who had to answer the media’s questions about her. Even though the acts were committed by Jacqueline Wong, Scarlett Wong also became the target of attacks by netizens. Aside from the verbal abuse, it was rumored the scandal was the cause of her break up with her boyfriend, Justin Ma (馬桂烽). However, her manager declined to respond about relationship matters.
After 5 months, Scarlett Wong finally spoke to the media about the scandal and her current relationship status today. When asked about her break up rumors with Justin Ma, Scarlett Wong said, “Actually when the reports first came out, my manager already answered it. Thanks for your concern, no comment. My answer is still the same today. I won’t be responding to relationship matters. It’s still two people’s business. It’s enough that we know about it.” The reporters then ask if she is single, but she says it’s still asking about relationship questions, and refuses to answer.
Jacqueline Wong’s current status
When asked if Jacqueline Wong is currently studying overseas, Scarlett Wong said, “I can only say that she’s not in Hong Kong. Where she is and what she is doing, I have nothing to comment. I hope everyone gives her some space. The only thing I can say is that she did do wrong. As her sister and family member, no matter what, her family will stand by her side.” When asked about Jacqueline Wong’s current condition and whether she’s still crying a lot, Scarlett Wong said, “She definitely has ups and downs. Such a big incident happened, she needs a lot of space and time to deal with her emotions, face herself for what she did, and take responsibility for her actions and the repercussions.”
Returning to Hong Kong
On whether Jacqueline Wong will return to Hong Kong, Scarlett Wong said, “I don’t really know. I don’t think she knows either. Once she’s ready, she will come back. I hope there is a day she is ready to come back and face you guys and answer your questions. So you don’t need to ask me.” When reporters ask if the incident has caused a lot of problems and emotional distress to the family, Scarlett Wong expressed, “There will be some for sure. Even if this didn’t happen, my parents would still worry because they have four daughters. They will be unhappy, but we are a close knit family. We’ve been trying hard to face it. We will face the hardships and must face it.”
Scarlett Wong also shared her personal experiences after this incident. She said, “After going through these experiences, you will see through a lot of people and things. Really thankful to a lot of our friends who have cared about us and a lot of people who have supported us and cared about us.” When asked about her being attacked by netizens on Instagram because Jacqueline Wong blocked commenting on her posts, Scarlett Wong expressed, “Haters gonna hate. I didn’t do anything wrong, so I just let them vent. If they feel better after lashing out, then just let them.”
Reporters then ask Scarlett Wong if she would feel awkward seeing Sammi Cheng, Andy Hui, and Kenneth Ma, at an event, she said, “I don’t think so. I don’t really know. I don’t foresee this happening. If this really happens, ask me on that day and I’ll tell you then if I feel awkward. Scarlett Wong also said she wouldn’t avoid them or any jobs that involved the affected parties and said “Why do I need to be awkward?”.
