Lay Zhang had a scary encounter when he was in a car en route to an event in Zhengzhou on November 16. A video has been circulating showing Lay Zhang calmly sitting in a car with other people while rabid fans crowded his car. There was a moment where fans seem to be pounding against the window to get his attention. At one point, he nods and waves at the fans to acknowledge them.

Lay Zhang responded to the fans on two separate occasions. In his first response, he said, “I am very thankful to the fans for coming to the event and for their support. However, there were a lot of people outside at the time. They were extremely close to the car. If I had continued to interact with the fans and greeted them outside the window, I fear because of the crowding, the car would accidentally crash or stomp onto their legs. So I hope everyone can be understanding and pay attention to safety. Also, I like my fans no matter what they are.”
