Following tradition, the nominees for the TVB Anniversary Awards (萬千星輝頒獎典禮) show are usually announced at the TVB Anniversary Gala Show. However, due to this year’s sudden change in broadcasting format to a pre-recorded show, that event was canceled from yesterday’s show. There are now reports stating this year’s TVB Anniversary Awards will be tentatively re-scheduled to January 12, 2020. The award show was originally scheduled to air on December 15. This would be the second time in TVB history the award shows were postponed.

It’s unclear whether the awards show will be pre-recorded as well. It’s reported there were over 400 complaints received for yesterday’s anniversary gala show saying the content was “indecent and vulgar”. Even if TVB decides to go the pre-recorded route, at least they will have some more time to prepare this time around.

In addition to the awards show, it’s reported the “Tung Wah Charity Gala” (歡樂滿東華) will also be changing names in light of the current events. TVB addressed these rumors today and said, “Any details regarding a program or an event, including dates of the events will be announced once confirmed.”
