MangoTV to Form a Girl Group from 30 Female Celebrities Aged 30 and Up in New Reality Show

MangoTV decided it didn’t want to let iQiyi, Tencent and Youku have all the fun in producing survival shows. The online video platform recently announced it is producing a new reality show with 30 female entertainers age 30 and up to form a girl group that transcends age. The show’s name is “乘风破浪的姐姐” (Chéngfēngpòlàng de jiějiě), which literally translates to “Older sisters riding the wind and waves”.

Based on the name of the show, it sounds like a second chance survival show for already established and known artists from different backgrounds. The youngest celebrity is 30 and the oldest is 52. The judges will be 500 women in the audience. The first recording is set to take place on May 23.

However, there was already controversy when netizens discovered MangoTV had used a picture of Korean girl group, MAMAMOO, as a backdrop for their promotional material.
