Gloria Tang (鄧佩儀) joined TVB after winning first place at the 2013 Miss Chinese International pageant representing Vancouver, Canada. Since joining TVB, she’s had mostly bit parts until the last few years where she had more promising roles in series like “Line Walker 2” and “Airport Strikers”. After 7 years with the company, Gloria Tang finally got promoted to female lead in a new series, “Counterattack Life” (lit. 逆襲人生), alongside Shaun Tam (譚俊彥). The series also stars Jonathan Cheung (張頴康) and Angel Chiang (蔣家旻).

When Gloria Tang got the script, she didn’t even know she was awarded the female lead. She revealed, “I went into the producer’s room and he gave me the script. I opened the page to look at the character descriptions and looked all the way to the side. Why wasn’t my name there? Then I saw my name in the middle. I was next to Shaun Tam. Then I realized I was the female lead. I didn’t dare utter a word. I immediately went home and told my family because my mom has always supported me. After hearing this news, she was even happier than me.”

Gloria Tang also expressed she felt like she was dreaming and never thought she would become the female lead. She described the feeling like winning the lottery. When asked if she felt elevated, Gloria Tang said, “No, I’ve always thought I was a small potato. I don’t feel stressed. I will work hard with each job.” Shaun Tam told Gloria Tang that she couldn’t treat herself like a small potato. He expressed, “I worked with Rebecca Zhu previously and it was also her first time being the female lead. I told her she needed to seize the opportunity well.” When asked if he was an expert in making girls popular, Shaun Tam said, “Okay la, it’s like Mandy Wong (黃智雯).”
Shaun Tam revealed the series is about time traveling and second chances. He expressed, “To save one’s life, there are some Western films I saw as a kid where you can make your own choice.” As it turns out Gloria Tang and Shaun Tam have known each other for a long time, but this is their first time working together. Shaun Tam also revealed there are plenty of love scenes. Shaun Tam expressed, “The difficulty exists in doing it twice. The second time exists in the parallel universe. It’s a big challenge. There is already a kiss scene in episode 3.”
