Former TVB actress, Hebe Chan (陳婉婷), left TVB in 2019 after 8 years with the company. Hebe Chan mostly had supporting roles and was even given the nickname “most beautiful maid” as she was often playing servants and maids. After she left the company, she became a freelance worker and worked on other networks. However, with the pandemic, Hebe Chan’s income suffered greatly. She was out of work for half a year.
In order to make money, Hebe Chan switched to becoming an influencer. She went from making no money to five figures each day. Fans would gift her with money and presents during her broadcast. Hebe Chan once said her income was really bad in the beginning. Her fans told her not to give up.
Hebe Chan says going live now, she can maintain her lifestyle. She depends on fans gifting her presents and then gets profit sharing. She recounted a 12 year old fan who kept giving her presents. The child ended up spending all their red envelope money to gift to her. The child’s family eventually discovered it and restricted them from continuing. Hebe Chan said she already told them to just watch and not to recharge money.
Right now, Hebe Chan livestreams for 8 hours each day. She says sometimes she wouldn’t even make $100 HKD, but there are times when she can be making tens of thousands. Hebe Chan revealed a lot of her supporters are fans who have been supporting her the past 5-6 years. There have been fans who spent hundreds of thousands in the past few months to give her presents.
