TVB held the Miss Hong Kong 2021 (2021香港小姐競選) pageant finale live on September 12. This year’s theme was “WE Miss Hong Kong”. Eric Tsang pulled out all the stops and was able to invite Jacky Cheung as a guest performer at the finale after so many years. He performed his new duet with Gin Lee and also his classics.

The winner’s list this year is quite a surprise. Contestants #3 Yvette Chan (陳聖瑜) and #4 Fabienne Kwan(關楓馨), Eddie Kwan’s daughter, were hot favorites to rank in the top 3. Yvette Chan was always favorited to take home the champion crown, but failed to make it to the top 5.

Sabrina Mendes can be considered this year’s dark horse. She wasn’t covered so much by the media in the beginning until she got popular during the Q&A session in the semi-finals, which earned her high praise from the judges. Sabrina Mendes was immediately painted by the media to be a favorite and a frontrunner to win the crown. She is three quarters Chinese and one quarter Portuguese descent.She graduated from the University of Toronto this year with double majors in Biochemistry and Human Biology and dreams of becoming a doctor.
