Back in June, there were rumors Barbie Hsu aka Da S (徐熙媛) and her Chinese husband, Wang Xiaofei (汪小菲), were headed for divorce over a post criticizing Taiwan about Taiwanese passengers being able to board a plane to Xiamen, China, after having a positive PCR test and the unavailability of vaccines for Taiwanese people. Barbie Hsu and Wang Xiaofei reportedly had an argument over this, which led to the viral divorce rumors.

On November 21, the Taiwanese media reported Barbie Hsu had filed for divorce from husband, Wang Xiaofei, earlier this month. The news was confirmed by Barbie Hsu’s manager, saying, “After serious and careful consideration, Mr. Wang Xiaofei and Ms. Hsu Shi-yuan have decided to amicably dissolve this marriage. They have already gone through the related procedures in recent days.”

On November 22, Wang Xiaofei and Barbie Hsu released a statement about their divorce through their lawyers: “After serious and careful consideration, Mr. Wang Xiaofei and Ms. Hsu Shi-yuan have decided to amicably dissolve this marriage. They have already gone through the related procedures in recent days. Mr. Wang Xiaofei and Ms. Hsu Shi-yuan were fated to meet each other and spent a happy and beautiful time together. Even though they chose to separate now, they are also extremely grateful for each other’s sacrifices. In the future, both parties will happily get along with each other as parents and friends and will continue to raise the children together and give them all the love and accompaniment.”

Both parties asked the media to give them some privacy and time.

Timeline of Barbie Hsu and Wang Xiaofei’s Relationship

Barbie Hsu and Wang Xiaofei met each other in September 2010 at Ady An’s birthday party. Wang Xiaofei revealed him and Barbie Hsu got engaged the following month. They registered their marriage in November 2011 and decided to get married only after the fourth time seeing each other. They held their wedding in March 2011. Barbie Hsu and Wang Xiaofei share a daughter born in April 2014 and a son born in May 2016.

In 2018, Barbie Hsu and Wang Xiaofei were one of three couples on Tencent’s variety show, “Happiness Trio” (幸福三重奏). Their marriage was first plagued with divorce rumors in March 2019, but Wang Xiaofei denied it and asked the media to take down the news. In September 2020, the media released pictures of Wang Xiaofei at a friends gathering at a bar and claimed he was seen hugging a random woman after getting drunk. Wang Xiaofei responded, “Don’t fabricate stories of me with pictures.”

A day after their spat in June was exposed to the public, netizens discovered Wang Xiaofei had deleted his earlier posts about Barbie Hsu. Barbie Hsu’s mother told the media in August that they had reconciled, but didn’t want to divulge further. In September, Wang Xiaofei came back to Taiwan. On Barbie Hsu’s birthday in October, the Taiwanese media reported she had a birthday party with family and friends, including Wang Xiaofei and their two kids.

Barbie Hsu’s Response to the Divorce

Barbie Hsu responded to the Taiwanese media after announcing her divorce: “Very peaceful, I hope Xiaofei will always live life better than me.” She also revealed that their children will be living with her for now and that Wang Xiaofei really loves their children. When they grow older, they will let the children decide where they want to live.
