Since leaving TVB, Kristal Tin (田蕊妮), has mentioned she would be opening her own company. While she is planning for her next project, she was a guest on former TVB executive, Stephen Chan’s (陳志雲) Youtube show, “Stephen.傾 Music Lie”. During the hour and a half long show, Stephen Chan touched on many subjects, including Kristal Tin’s love life. Stephen Chan brought up Kristal Tin’s husband, Chapman To (杜汶澤), cheating on her many years ago.

When Kristal Tin entered ATV, she was only 16 years old. They met each other in ATV and started out as good friends before dating, living together, and finally getting married in 2005. Chapman To was quite poor when they first dated and barely had enough money for transportation. Kristin Tin recounted one Valentine’s Day when he bought a bottle of Perrier and only had enough money for one rose to gift her. However, she revealed when he first started making a little more money, he gifted her several small presents and a credit card. She accepted it, but never used it.
Kristal Tin revealed Chapman To had proposed to her several times before, but she had always rejected it because she is the type of person who felt marriage wasn’t necessary and they didn’t want children. What changed her mind was the 2004 Indian Ocean earthquake and tsunami. Chapman To went to Sri Lanka on a charity mission for the natural disaster in Southeast Asia. Kristal Tin was worried at the time and didn’t want to regret not marrying him if anything happened to him. When Kristal Tin went on a charity mission, Chapman To had secretly put a ring in her luggage and the rest is history.
However, not everything was rosy in their 20+ years together. Chapman To had once cheated on Kristal Tin while they were dating. Kristal Tin said she did everything women did when suspecting their spouses of having a third party. She said, “For example, checking the phones, when I have suspicions I ask him. I found all the information. There was a time it felt like filming a detective movie. It didn’t feel really good.”
Kristal Tin gathered all the evidence and confronted Chapman To about his cheating. They also re-evaluated their relationship. Kristal Tin said, “Because we started out as good friends, when I was talking it out with him, I wasn’t hysterical at all. I was very calm. We gave each other a choice on whether we wanted to continue on, how he would behave later on, whether we could both work hard and change, whether we were willing to continue on being together, whether we could wipe away the past.”
Stephen Chan asked her how she was able to let it go and not hold a grudge. Kristal Tin explained if she didn’t let it go, then it would be very painful for the both of them. Kristal Tin also reveals she knows who the third party was, but she never confronted her. When Stephen Chan asked her if Chapman To had cheated again, she said, “To my knowledge, he hasn’t.” Chapman To had previously mentioned in an interview that he had owed his wife too much.
