Joel Chan (陳山聰) and his wife, Apple, got married last November.  At the time, there were rumors his wife was pregnant as the wedding pictures only showed his wife from the waist up.  Joel Chan denied they had a shotgun marriage and asked reporters to stop saying his wife was fat.  On Valentine’s Day, Joel Chan announced his wife was pregnant, but didn’t reveal the sex of the baby until Children’s Day.

On July 5, Joel Chan announced his wife gave birth to a baby boy.  He shared the good news on Instagram saying, “The most beautiful scene in the marathon of life, thankful. Daddy hopes you become a man full of positive energy, happy, healthy, and upright.”  Joel Chan also revealed the baby’s name, Jaco, was suggested by Pal Sinn (單立文) and Paisley Wu (胡蓓蔚).

Joel Chan is Getting Married in November

In an interview, Joel Chan revealed he was in the delivery room to cut Jaco’s umbilical cord.  Baby Jaco weighs over 7.1 pounds.  He expressed, “I wasn’t nervous when we entered the hospital.  When I was waiting for my wife in the delivery room, I couldn’t hold it in and shed daddy’s tears.  This type of feeling is very wonderful…She was really relaxed.  She told me to calm down and not cry.  Afterwards, the baby came out.  He cried a few times and immediately smiled.  He really likes to smile.”  Joel Chan revealed cutting Jaco’s umbilical cord was the happiest moment in his life.
