Despite Jacqueline Wong’s (黃心穎) scandal, TVB announced last month they would be airing her series “Finding Her Voice” (牛下女高音) with Owen Cheung, Chung King Fai (鍾景輝) and other actors. This surprised many after it was initially rumored it was being reshot and then it was reported the reshots weren’t happening. TVB dropped the bomb last month when they announced they would be going ahead with the series, but it would be airing during the TVB anniversary series prime time slot. Today was the debut of the series.
Is TVB Paving the Way for Jacqueline Wong’s Comeback?
So despite all the public opinion about Jacqueline Wong and the scandal, why would TVB make such a daring move to air her series unedited when “Forensic Heroes IV” had to be reshot? When it was first announced the series would get an air date, the producer of the series said none of Jacqueline Wong’s scenes would be cut. That would be hard considering she is the female lead. However, there seems to be a sentiment out there that the public might actually want to watch the series just to see how much Jacqueline Wong’s screen time is actually shown.

Aside from the exposure Jacqueline Wong might bring, the theme of the series might actually be appealing to viewers, especially during the turmoil in Hong Kong right now. The series talks about seven middle aged men who rediscover their passion for life through singing. The seven actors portraying them include, Hugo Ng (吳岱融), Ram Chiang (蔣志光), Au Siu Wai (歐瑞偉), Savio Tsang (曾偉權), Willie Wai Kar Hung (韋家雄), Sam Tsang (曾航生), and Joe Tay (鄭敬基), all veteran actors who have varying degrees of experience with music.

When news about the series airing was announced, Hugo Wong expressed, “The series is inspirational and positive. It talks about a bunch of middle aged men who are encouraged by their former teacher, played by Chung King Fai. He encourages us not to give up. Even though we are up there in age already, but we need to continue chasing our dreams, don’t give up on life, don’t be easily discouraged.” The seven middle aged men find courage to stand on the stage again and experiences a rebirth.
Jacqueline Wong Rumored to be Declaring Bankruptcy to Pay Off Debts
Lastly, this is Chung King Fai’s unofficial last series with TVB. Due to some health issues in recent years, he’s had to take a step back from acting. It was recently reported that he might not be able to attend the promotional events for the series either. In a recent interview, he revealed he can’t stay up late anymore and wouldn’t be accepting any new series for the time being. So this definitely brings some allure to watching the drama being that this might be the last series of Chung King Fai, a revered and well respected actor.
