Yes, you read that right. It’s not an early April Fool’s joke. Apparently, someone on the board of ATV felt actor Frankie Lam (林文龍) was suitable to be the new vice president of the troubled tv station. At ATV’s press conference for the 2019 Miss Asia pageant on December 23, they used the opportunity to announce Frankie Lam’s new role with the company. He will officially assume his position in January 2020.
Frankie Lam admits he doesn’t have much experience working behind the scenes, but says he will be hiring people to help him. He also feels a TV station must have their own series. When asked about the rumors of ATV’s financial issues and recent layoffs, Frankie Lam says, “I can’t comment on the past, but at this moment, I can say that ATV’s finances are in good standing.”
When asked about his new salary, Frankie Lam expressed, “Don’t prioritize money so high up. Chairman Lai (Jessy Lai) is understanding of all her employees. I know who she is, she really adores her employees. So she won’t be harsh to her employees, including me.” On whether his new salary will cover the previous jobs he had to turn down, Frankie Lam expressed, “You guys are worried about my lifestyle. If I have any issues with my lifestyle, I will share it with everyone.”
Frankie Lam’s last series with TVB, “Life After Death” (那些我愛過的人)
Even though Frankie Lam is now the new VP of ATV, we shouldn’t be hopeful of his wife, Kenix Kwok (郭可盈), returning to film for the company. When reporters asked if she would be making a comeback, Frankie Lam expressed she won’t be returning any time soon because their daughter won’t allow it.
