The first Hong Kong series Myolie Wu (胡杏兒) chose to film since leaving TVB four years ago is ViuTV’s “Sophisticated Career Women” (lit. 熟女強人). Some of her co-stars include Jeana Ho (何珮瑜), Sharon Luk (陸詩韻), Carrie Ng (吳家麗), Karena Ng (吳千語), and others. Filming had started back in April. However, there are recent rumors Karena Ng had complained to the crew that Myolie Wu’s outfits were more expensive and prettier than her own. Myolie Wu plays a sex therapist and a psychologist, while Karena Ng plays a pastry chef. The rumors go further to say that Karena Ng requested the cast to “take care of it”.
An insider expressed, “Myolie’s character is a professional. So of course her clothes will be grander. In addition, a lot of the clothes are from Myolie’s collection. So there’s no favoritism.” It’s reported two stylists quit because they felt wronged and upset over the accusations. There are rumors the crew felt unsatisfied that Karena Ng was jealous of Myolie Wu being heavily valued, but yet she appears to be really friendly and sisterly with Myolie Wu in front of people. In addition to that, Karena Ng is accused of being two-faced for seeming to be on really good terms with Myolie Wu and appearing next to her at press conferences or filming and always appearing to be closer than her on-screen romantic partner, Theresa Fu (傅穎).

Myolie Wu responded to the rumors, saying, “That weird? I’ve been working very happily with the cast and crew.” As for Karena Ng, she said, “The only time there was a debate was the swimsuit to wear for the water scenes.” Karena Ng also expressed that she is completely satisfied with the crew’s styling arrangements and is working happily with the cast and crew. She also points out there were no stylists who quit and posted an IG story saying, “Don’t stir up trouble between us. We are very good.” and a picture with Myolie Wu.

I really think Karena ought to try use her own skills to make a name in showbiz for herself and not be either branded a gold digger or, having help because of supposed contacts (ex and current boyfriend), but of course it may just be too late, unless she loses him now and start working her butt off at it, to not give people the impression she can’t make it on her own.
