Myolie Wu (胡杏兒) is currently competing on Chinese variety show, “Everybody Stand By 2” (演员请就位2). In her first performance, she already received praise and the highly coveted “S” card from Vicki Zhao (赵薇). In her second performance, Myolie Wu portrays Joan Chen’s police chief character, “Laoorn”, in the 2018 movie, “Sheep Without a Shepherd” (误杀).
The performance earned Myolie Wu rave reviews and an “A” card from Chen Kaige (陈凯歌) and the highest grade, the “S” card, from Guo Jingming. In the end, Myolie Wu chose to join Chen Kaige’s team. During her speech, Myolie Wu got emotional and started tearing. She started off saying, “These few days of high intensity rehearsals have actually made me feel very touched. It made me think about my niangjia (娘家). Everyone might think what kind of place is niangjia? It’s TVB.”
Myolie Wu explains she was with TVB for about 16 years. She expressed, “Director Yee should know about that working situation. You can’t sleep. The script might be given to you tonight and you film the next day, but you must still act well. Because if you don’t act well, once it airs, people won’t yell at others. They’ll just say you acted bad. So I thank Director Guo for praising me before. I was trained coming from TVB, the “Shaolin Temple”. So if there is no TVB, there is no Hu Xing’er. Without the viewers who watch TVB, there wouldn’t be Hu Xing’er either. Thank you guys for watching my series while growing up.”
