More information is getting revealed about Sam Cheung’s condition prior to his death by suicide on December 2. Based on his suicide note, he was feeling very depressed in the past few months due to the lost of his job and heartbreak from his breakup with Miss Hong Kong 2020 contestant, Jessica Liu (廖慧儀). Aside from a suicide note, a person named Nay, who is said to be Sam Cheung’s friend, shared a few audio clips with Apple Daily from a conversation he had with Sam Cheung from last Wednesday (November 25).

In one of the clips, Sam Cheung revealed he and Jessica Liu lived together for many years and were really sweet in the beginning. However, after Jessica Liu joined the Miss Hong Kong pageant, he claims she completely changed. He said, “She used to cling to me a lot, act coy with me. I couldn’t believe she would be this cold-hearted. After breaking up, she wanted her pants back. After she took it back, it was like we were strangers. She said, ‘I am leaving now. Bye bye!’. She also said to throw away all her things and no need to give it back to her. I don’t know where she got her determination from.”

As for the breakup, Sam Cheung said in another clip, “I kept reflecting in these past few months. I really did bad on a lot of things. For example, she said I was very fixated about money. She said I was always saying everything had to be half-half. She didn’t like these things, but at the time, she was okay with it. I think if I invested more, made 20,000 and gave all 20,000 to her, would this turn out better? Also, I would always nag her back then about doing chores. I said the home wasn’t that clean. Now that I think about it, women should be adorned. I shouldn’t have yelled at her. In the end, she said I forced her to leave. I really regret it. I feel really guilty. She blocked me from everything.” Sam also said the quality of his previous girlfriends were not bad, but none of them were comparable to Jessica Liu. He said he might have to wait over 10 years until he find someone like her.

Nay said he met Sam Cheung years ago, but didn’t contact each other for some time. It wasn’t until last Wednesday when Nay saw Sam posted a picture of him on the roof. He already felt something was wrong. He left a comment telling him not to do anything crazy, but it didn’t help.
