TVB actor, Aaryn Cheung (張明偉), started getting noticed for his role as “George” in “Come Home Love – Lo and Behold” (愛·回家之開心速遞). The 30 year old has been in the industry for 8 years. He has always given people the impression as being a second generation heir. He laughs at the label, but iterates he has always been self sufficient. He graduated from UCLA in 2010. The first job he got after graduation was being a production assistant at TVB.
Aaryn Cheung shares it was under the support of a producer who encouraged him to try out acting. However, his first love has always been singing. He expressed, ” Actually, I’ve always wanted to release albums and become a singer from the start. However, the music industry wasn’t doing so well a few years back. So I thought about joining TVB first and do some dramas since it’s still in the entertainment industry. After being a production assistant for less than a year, my colleagues noticed I liked to sing and perform. So they helped me fill out the form to apply for the artiste’s training program.”
On being labeled as a second generation heir, he says he is a “fake second generation heir.” Aaryn Cheung explains further, “I’ve been in the industry for so long. Even if I don’t have income, I have never asked my family for money. There was a period of time where I didn’t have much fame and didn’t have any series to film either. Before I started to film “Come Home Love”, I drove for Uber to help with my expenses. If I was a second generation heir, I wouldn’t be driving Uber.”
As for his love life, Aaryn Cheung already has a non-celebrity girlfriend he has been dating for over a year. He has no plans to get married anytime soon.
