In recent years, TFBOYS have maintained separate careers while still promoting as a group. They made it clear they wouldn’t be disbanding. Even so, each member is busy with their respective careers. So fans were ecstatic when they found out TFBOYS would be reuniting and performing at the 2019 iQiyi Scream Night (爱奇艺尖叫之夜). They bought tickets and camped out for hours just to get a glimpse of their idols performing together for a 3 minute song. However, fans were angry when TFBOYS’ performance was abruptly canceled from the event after the boys were waiting all night to perform.
The event organizers originally arranged for TFBOYS to perform after a few of the major awards were handed out. They were supposed to be performing their song, “First Love Confession” (第一次告白). Their performance was even listed on iQiyi’s site. However, midway through the event, fans noticed their performance was removed from the program list.

Fans suspect the boys were not informed or aware either. They showed pictures of the boys sitting patiently in the front row waiting to perform when all the other artists had already left.

Fans are understandably upset. It’s reported some of them wouldn’t leave the venue and were demanding iQiyi address why TFBOYS didn’t perform as promised. Fans started photoshopping iQiyi’s logo saying it’s a “scamming company”. They also explained how hard it was for each member to gather for this event. For example, Karry Wang Junkai (王俊凯) had to fly back early from his overseas trip. He also ran into flight delays and had to take a red eye flight to rush back for the event. Roy Wang Yuan (王源) had to take time off from school in Boston and was sick. Fans noticed he kept rubbing his hands to keep warm at the event. As for Jackson Yee (易烊千玺), he also had a busy schedule and rushed back for this event. He missed out on attending the overseas promotions for his movie, “Better Days” (少年的你).
iQiyi still hasn’t issued a statement on the canceling of TFBOYS’ performance.
How could iQiyi do that, it’s so unfair to TFboys and fans ,especially who already came to the event just to watch their performance. They must be really disappointed. Anyway, congrats to TFBoys for the Award, your songs are energetic & always bring up positive vibes.
Iqiyi were downright rude and unprofessional to treat them like that. They put efforts to attend the event together after separated so long and waited for hours in vain. Well,I wish at least they have each other’s company and take time to catch up. Keep fighting,boys!
