Since leaving TVB, Myolie Wu (胡杏兒) has been focusing her career in mainland China. However, with the COVID-19 pandemic going on, the Chinese entertainment industry was suspended for a good 3 months. A lot of projects were suspended or canceled. For Myolie Wu’s first Hong Kong series since leaving TVB, she chose to film with ViuTV instead of going back to her old company.
The new ViuTV series is called, “Iron Ladies” ( 熟女強人), which is a literal translation of the series name. The producer of the series said the stories will focus on 7 women from different backgrounds. It will cover topics ranging from freezing eggs, legal custody battles, homosexuality, sex addition, wife swaps, absentee dads, and returning to being single.
Myolie Wu plays a sex therapist in the series. Her character goes through a legal custody battle with her ex-husband for their son. She is joined by Carrie Ng (吳家麗), Sharon Luk (陸詩韻), Jess Sum (沈卓盈), Jeana Ho (何佩瑜), Karena Ng (吳千語), and Theresa Fu (傅穎). Karena Ng plays a bisexual character in the series, which is said to be a first in Hong Kong series.
Myolie Wu said her character is one that she has wanted to portray. This is her first time portraying a therapist. She shared that this is practically the first time working with this cast, so there is a lot of freshness. She is most looking forward to working with her “goddess”, Carrie Ng.
