After much speculation, Selena Lee (李施嬅) confirmed on Instagram that she is officially coming back to TVB to film “Barrack O’Karma 2” (金宵大廈2). The series was critically acclaimed and a ratings hit for TVB last year. Both Selena Lee and Joel Chan (陳山聰) were nominated for Best Actress and Best Actor at the 2019 TVB Anniversary awards. While they both lost out in their respective categories, Selena Lee did nag the “Most Popular Female Character” along with Miriam Yeung.
Joel Chan had previously already agreed he would be returning for the sequel, but as Selena Lee is no longer with TVB, her participation was still up in the air. At the end of “Barrack O’Karma”, many people were already asking for a sequel to talk about “Ah Siu” and “Alex” encountering each other again. Selena Lee is already signed to a Hollywood company and was in Canada recently to film for an English speaking series. So she couldn’t just commit to coming back for the sequel.
There were rumors Selena Lee had listed three conditions for the sequel: looking at the script first, original cast, and abundant resources. However, she later denied making those conditions and said she would respect the creators. She said she would just do her part as an actor and would announce it to the public if she decided on it.
On June 15, Selena made the announcement, saying: “Smiling and thinking about my roles for Season 2 …yes it’s official!!! Everyone has been telling me to film “Barrack O’Karma 2″. Okay then. I’ll listen to what you guys say. Ah Siu, I am coming back to look for you.” It’s reported the sequel will start filming in August.
