Since 2017, VOGUE China has been teaming up with Chinese celebrities for their film projects under the VOGUE Film brand. The magazine has been thriving in China under the tutelage of its editor-in-chief, Angelica Cheung, and the success of its digital campaigns.
Wang Yibo Reveals Having Wild Ambitions Towards Performing
This year’s campaign contained two micro films. One featuring Li Bingbing and Zhu Yilong, called “Into The Mirror”.
The other campaign called “Le Vrai Où” featured Zhou Xun and Wang Yibo, which opened the VOGUEfilm in Celebration of CHANEL & Cinema event on November 19, a star studded event attended by celebrities like Yang Mi, Cecilia Liu Shishi, William Chan, Victoria Song, Liu Wen, Jing Boran, Huang Bo, and more.

Zhou Xun Admits She Has a Lot of Insecurities about Love
Aside from Zhou Xun and Wang Yibo, “Le Vrai Où” also featured Chinese band, Mandarin, who performed their song “Cradle Song” in the beginning. Even though the micro film lasted a little over 9 minutes, it felt like a Wong Kar-wai movie. As a lounge singer in the film, Zhou Xun performed a classic Chinese song called “The Evening Primose” (夜来香).

Zhou Xun was asked at the event about working with Wang Yibo for the first time. She responded, “I went to greet him. I started saying, ‘You don’t say anything. Is it because we’re not close?’ I then said to him, ‘You’re still not familiar with me?’ He still didn’t say anything, but he smiled. Just like he’s smiling now.”
Angelica Cheung then asked Wang Yibo if he had any pressure facing this best actress.
Wang Yibo: Of course
Zhou Xun: None
Wang Yibo: Yes, there was.
Zhou Xun: None
Wang Yibo: There was. There was. I would get really nervous.
This is also VOGUE China’s 15th anniversary. Unfortunately, Angelica Cheung dropped the news that she was leaving the magazine on December 8, after a 16 year tenure with the magazine, which she helped build from the ground up. Her replacement hasn’t been announced.
After her departure announcement, Angelica Cheung bid adieu to the past four years of VOGUE Film.
