C-Pop boy group, R1SE, debuted in June through Tencent’s “Produce Camp 2019.” The group has enjoyed immense popularity and is constantly being promoted whether as a group or individual members. They are managed by Long Danni’s company, Wajijiwa Entertainment, who is also responsible for the success of Rocket Girls 101. Due to R1SE’s popularity, their sasaeng fans have started to attack. It’s gotten to a point where R1SE had to issue a statement warning sasaeng fans to stop their actions.
Wajijiwa Entertainment uploaded a lengthy note on R1SE’s official Weibo account on August 16 stating:
“Since the formation of the group, the members have felt everyone’s passion and support. Thank you to all the “Twelves” (fan name) for their affirmation and support in R1SE.
Recently, there have been a specific group of fans who have constantly used different inappropriate actions and violated the members legal rights during unannounced itineraries, severely disrupting the members’ lifestyles. During announced work events, they shine their laser pens and other extreme behaviors, not only does it severely endanger the members’ physical and mental health, it also creates huge security risks, which can easily cause security accidents.
Right here, the R1SE team strictly condemns the behavior of the people involved and have also started to obtain evidence of the serious and harmful actions that were committed. The accompanying staff members will use various means such as negotiation, dissuasion, and hiring professional security personnel to protect the members’ safety and will involve the police when necessary.
The team will also continue to strengthen security and monitoring measures for activities, venues, and travel. At the same time, we urge “Twelves” to work hard together to jointly supervise and boycott the above misconduct, protect the security of fans and members, and maintain public order. If you discover any violation of the lawful rights and interests of the members of the group, you can send relevant information and evidence to [email protected]. If the misconduct is confirmed to be true, the team will issue a warning to the perpetrator or pursue legal action.”
It’s unsure if there was a specific incident or a series of events that triggered Wajijiwa to address the issue of sasaeng fans. R1SE member, Xia Zhiguang (夏之光), had vented his frustrations at sasaeng fans the prior day, saying: “Can you not follow our car? Can you not squat near our home? Can you not come questioning me about something casual you heard? This is the last time. Thank you.”
