Netflix announced today at a press conference that the three original Taiwanese series, “Nowhere Man” (罪夢者), “Triad Princess” (極道千金), and “The Ghost Bride” (彼岸之嫁), will be airing on October 31, December 6, and January 2010 respectively. “Nowhere Man” has 8 episode, 40 minutes each, while “Triad Princess” and “The Ghost Bride” each have six episodes.
“Nowhere Man” stars Joseph Chang (張孝全) and Alyssa Chia (賈靜雯). Joseph Chang stars as a triad leader and will be his first time portraying a gangster in his career. Alyssa Chia plays Joseph’s wife and it’s their first time working together. Joseph Chang is on death row and has already been in prison for ten years. One day in prison, he gets wind of his son getting kidnapped. He then tries everything in his will to escape from prison to save his son and family, but during his journey, Joseph Chang gets immersed into an even more dangerous scheme.
The second original Taiwanese produced series for Netflix, “Triad Princess”, stars Eugenie Liu (劉奕兒) and Jasper Liu (劉以豪). Eugenie Liu grows up with a triad boss father. She falls in love with a popular celebrity, “Hsu Yi Hang” played by Jasper Liu. In order to get close to her idol, she decides to become a bodyguard for a famous actress rumored with “Hsu Yi Hang”, against her father’s wishes.
The Ghost Bride
In the third original Taiwanese produced series for Netflix, “The Ghost Bride”, it stars Chris Wu (吳慷仁) and Peijia Huang (黃姵嘉). This is based on a novel “The Ghost Bride” (鬼新娘) by New York Times best-selling author, Yangsze Choo. The story is set in 1890 during the colonial times in Malacca, Malaysia. Huang Peijia stars as “Li Lan” who is forced into a “ghost marriage” (冥婚) with the spirit of the dead son from the wealthy Lim family due to her family’s debts. She tries to escape her fate, but gets entangled into a mysterious murder plot and also some unexplainable supernatural occurrences that occur as part of the back story. Chris Wu plays a “mysterious person” who helps “Li Lan” along the way, but is keeping a big secret.
