The finale episode for TVB’s “Big White Duel” (白色強人) aired on July 12. Aside from the actors garnering praise for their acting, Kayee Tam’s (譚嘉儀) theme song for the series, “Can You Hear” received a lot of attention. The song is entirely in English and the music video has already garnered over 1.6 million views as of the writing of this article. Due to high demand from netizens to record a Chinese version, she fulfilled their requests and invited Kenneth Ma (馬國明) to sing the song with her. The two filmed the music video for the Chinese version of “Can You Hear” recently and there are intimate scenes that have pissed off some netizens!
When Kenneth Ma was interviewed by “Scoop” (東張西望) reporters, he explained, “I told her my voice was so so. I said to try the sound first. If it doesn’t work out, let’s not force it. Told her to sing it herself. Because I think her solo version sounds very good. Then she said, “No need to worry. I can help you tune it out.”” Even though Kayee Tam praises Kenneth Ma’s voice, a lot of netizens didn’t react the same. Quite a few netizens left comments like, “Real talk, Kenneth Ma should just stick to acting,” “Kenneth Ma’s singing has always been something we should just give up, but I still support him!”
Aside from Kenneth Ma’s voice, the two have bed and kiss scenes in the music video. When the “Scoop” host told Kayee Tam that she beat out Ali Lee (李佳芯) as her character in “Big White Duel” hasn’t had a chance to kiss Kenneth Ma. Kenneth Ma said, “Because there is a scene where we are really close to each other, like nose touching nose. Touching hair, all that stuff we did. There was nothing else to do so the director said why not kiss each other? The feeling should be pretty good. I said I waited for you to say this for so long. Once I heard kiss, of course I went in for it! The atmosphere was really invested. It was like the feeling of first love rushing back.” Kayee Tam also jokingly said the intimates scenes were requested by Kenneth Ma and she only knew about it when they went on set that day.
Unfortunately, not all netizens were that happy with their intimate scenes. Some of them left comments saying, “Give me back Natalie Tong (唐詩詠)!”
