After the success of 2018’s “Story of Yanxi Palace” (延禧攻略), netizens have been vying for the cast members to reunite for another series. Wu Jinyan (吴谨言) and Nie Yuan (聂远) satisfied some fans when they reunited for the “The Legend of Haolan” this year. They collaborated for the third time in a modern series tentatively titled “Happiness Will Knock Once Again” (幸福还会来敲门). However, fans were more ecstatic when it was announced yesterday, Qin Lan (秦岚), Wu Jinyan, and Nie Yuan were reuniting for a new series called “The Heritage” (传家).

This series was already announced over a year ago. There was finally some news when pictures surfaced of the cast and crew attending the blessing ceremony yesterday. The series is also produced by, Yu Zheng (于正), who happens to be Wu Jinyan and Xu Kai’s boss. The series is based off of a novel and is set during the war time period. The storyline revolves around three sisters who come from the rich Yi family who manages a major department store in Shanghai.

Qin Lan plays the eldest sister, “Yi Zhongling” (易钟灵), who is calm and wise. Wu Jinyan plays the second sister, “Yi Zhongyu” (易钟玉), who is smart, clever, and has her own opinions. The youngest sister, “Yi Zhongxiu” (易钟秀), returns from studying overseas and is a bit naive and quirky. She is played by one of Yu Zheng’s artist, Zhang Nan (张南). It’s unclear what character Nie Yuan will play. He was also missing from the blessing ceremony yesterday. It’s reported Han Geng (韩庚) and Zheng Kai (郑恺) will also be joining the cast.

It’s said the storyline will revolve around the three sisters fighting to inherit the Yi family’s business as he hasn’t named a successor. However, because of their father’s patriotic support and aid to fight the Japanese troops during war time China, he gets killed in the process. Their department store loses its helm and suffers heavy and repeated losses. In order to fulfill their father’s long cherished wish, the three sisters join forces and overcome their differences to go through the difficult times together.

While fans were excited about the news of Qin Lan, Wu Jinyan, and Nie Yuan reuniting for a new series, they discovered Yu Zheng reused the “Story of Yanxi Palace” official Weibo account for “The Heritage”, instead of creating a new one. The names and header pictures were replaced, but the old Weibo posts from “Story of Yanxi Palace” are still around. Fans expressed, “I am a “Story of Yanxi Palace” fan, not a “The Heritage” fan.”, “Even fans’ memories are being taken away. It’s too much.”, “Even if you’re using the “Yanxi” cast, please respect the old fans.”
