Kenneth Ma (馬國明) has always shied away from having social media accounts. He decided to open Weibo in October 2018, but primarily posts pictures from work and with colleagues. He finally decided to open his Instagram account on June 9. His first post reads: “New beginning…I am Kenneth Ma.” Eliza Sam (岑麗香), his co-star from “Plan “B”” (BB大晒), left a comment saying, “What the heck!!! You’re finally here!!” Nancy Wu (胡定欣) said, “Wow…is this real?” Sisley Choi (蔡思貝) said, “This new beginning brings a lot of hope to this world! Turning the impossible to possible.”
Practically all the people he’s following are from showbiz. Kenneth Ma revealed, “A lot of friends told me to open one for a long time. I finally decided to open one. A lot of colleagues say you can make money and help with promotions, so I finally opened it. I have to slowly get familiar with it. There are a lot of functions I don’t know how to use yet.” Kenneth Ma said a lot of friends helped him with his first post, which made him a bit confused. He said, “There are a lot of friends I want to follow, but haven’t found them yet. I have to take my time to find them. Once I get used to it, I will post more.”
When asked about not following Jacqueline Wong (黃心穎), Kenneth Ma explained, “For all my friends, as long as I can find them, even her I would really follow. Don’t overthink it. There are also a lot of fake IG accounts. I have to check each one before following.” Netizens noticed when he first opened his account, he had followed Roxanne Tong’s (湯洛雯) younger sister, Cassandre Tong (湯樂瑤). Kenneth Ma clarified that he had mistakenly clicked on it and is just starting out so he is constantly clicking on the wrong things. He immediately unfollowed her after the discovery.
As for girls sliding into his DMs, he said, “If there are pretty girls really messaging me, I would take a look, but I don’t really trust the stuff on the internet. I think the picture would look different from the real person, so I will just laugh at it.”
