TVB’s last anniversary series of the year, “Wonder Women” (多功能老婆), is finally airing on November 25. One of the major reasons why this romcom series is highly anticipated is because of Miriam Yeung (楊千嬅). This is her first TVB series in 18 years. Aside from her, she is reunited with her co-stars, Raymond Wong (黃浩然) and Benz Hui (許紹雄), from the 2002 movie, “Love Undercover” (新紮師妹). Even though Benz Hui is only a guest star in this series, he is playing Miriam Yeung’s father and has many people anticipating the trio’s chemistry again.

In the series, Miriam Yeung and Raymond Wong play a married couple with a son. The series focuses on how women balance their work family and career after marriage. Miriam Yeung’s character is a middle class housewife. When she discovers her architect husband, Raymond Wong, cheats on her, it destroys their marriage. She meets Pakho Chau’s (周柏豪) character, a young master from a rich a family, who stays by her side and encourages her when she’s at rock bottom. Through their interactions, they start to develop feelings for each other. However, Raymond Wong comes back at this time to “steal” his wife back. From there on, the three enter into a complicated love triangle.

When mentioning having plenty of kiss scenes with Raymond Wong, Miriam Yeung said it wasn’t awkward as they’ve known each other for a while and have worked before. She adds, “We have families and children, so we understand our characters.” As it turns out, Miriam Yeung, Raymond Wong, and Pakho Chau all know each other when they guested on the 2009 series, ICAC Investigators 2009 (廉政行動2009). Aside from series, Miriam Yeung and Pakho Chau have collaborated on music previously.

Another nice surprise is the presence of veteran actor, Melvin Wong (黃錦燊), who hasn’t filmed anything in almost 20 years. You might recognize him from “Kindred Spirit” and as veteran actress, Angie Chiu’s husband. He plays Pakho Chau’s father and a womanizing lawyer. This role was fit for Melvin Wong as he is a real life lawyer.

Rebecca Zhu, Alice Chan (陳煒), and Jonathan Wong (王梓軒) round out the cast with supporting roles. Alice Chan and Jonathan Wong will play a couple. At first, Alice Chan thought him and her being casted would give the opposite effect of what was intended for their characters. However she later realized, “This character was tailor made for Jonathan Wong.” He plays a bachelor in the series. He helps Alice Chan’s character retrieve her shoe and immediately starts pursuing her.
