TVB held the Miss Hong Kong 2020 (2020香港小姐競選) pageant finale live on August 30. Due to the pandemic and shrinking budgets, this year’s competition didn’t have any overseas events. As for overseas contestants, their audition was held online. There were only two overseas contestants, Lisa-Marie Tse and Joyce Chong, who made it to the Top 18. However, Joyce Chong was later eliminated in the Top 12 round.

As always, there is controversy and gossip surrounding the contestants each year. Someone claiming to be an old classmate of Celina Harto’s had previously revealed her current boyfriend is TVB artist Joey Thye’s ex-boyfriend. There were all sorts of rumors about her dating life, family background, and lifestyle as well.
Lisa-Marie Tse Denies Being Isolated by Other Miss Hong Kong 2020 Winners Because She Has More Jobs
Jessica Liu and her boyfriend were accused by some netizens for having “improper lifestyles”. She and her boyfriend had been receiving a lot of hate comments on their IG. Jessica Liu later claimed fans of the other contestants were attacking her. There were also some controversy about her tattoo on her abdomen. Last year’s Kayan Choi also had a tattoo in her bikini area and was a hot favorite to be placed in the Top 3, but ultimately only finished in the Top 5. However, Jessica Liu didn’t make it to the Top 5.
Lisa-Marie Tse was another hot favorite due to her mixed background and sweet looks. As she grew up in Scotland, her Cantonese is not that good. It was also reported Lisa-Marie was nominated by Maria Codero as her father (below) is friends with Maria’s son.
